Defining hardscapes, as they differ from outdoor living, is really more a matter of preference. In the eyes of the design team, hardscapes are those permanent and semi-permanent complements that pull a project together. Accents in stone, tile and/or concrete. They can be decorative or serve a more utilitarian purpose.

We define outdoor kitchens, fireplaces and fire-pits as hardscape projects. Of coarse, walls for decorative purposes, erosion control and creating spaces would also meet this definition. We never use kits or prefabricated concrete for our hardscape projects. Everything begins with a reinforced footing, reinforced cinderblock, covered in stone, tile or a concrete based plaster. Built to reflect the design and stand the test of time, to stand long after structures have fallen. That is a true hardscape.
